Wappen von Igensdorf/Arms (crest) of Igensdorf
Official blazon

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 28, 1977.

The arms were designed in 1977 as no older arms for the villages in the municipality existed.

The eagle in the arms is taken from the arms of the city of Nürnberg, as the village belonged to the Hiltpoltstein district of the State of Nürnberg from the 16th until 1806.

The cherries indicate that the area is one of the largest areas in Germany for cherry cultivation. The chief shows the cross of St. George, the patron saint of the local church of St. George.

Wappen von Igensdorf/Coat of arms (crest) of Igensdorf

The arms on the city hall.

Literature: Stadler, 1990.
