SIPPERSFELD
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Donnersbergkreis
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Winnweiler
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms of the village are shown above right and were granted on December 18, 1954. The middle arms were used from 1945-54 and the left arms before 1945, both were not officially granted.
The oldest seal of the village dates from the early 16th century and shows the local patron saint at the time, St. Sebastian, flanked by two other persons. The latter two were replaced by arrows in the late 19th century (arms above left). The two other persons on the seal probably were St. Fabianus and St. Wendelus. The present arms show the symbols of the three saints in the base (sword, arrow and pilgrim's staff). The upper half of the present arms shows the arms of the Counts of Nassau, who ruled the village until 1793.
The middle arms were designed in 1945 and show a fountain and a tree with 19 acorns and 45 leaves. The arms symbolise the year 1945 and the renewal of the village after the war.
