Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 25, 1978.

The two red balls are taken from the arms of the Kolb von Wartenberg family, lords of the villages of Mehlingen and Sembach. The fleur-de-lys is a symbol of St. Mary, who appeared on the seal of the Enkenbach Abbey from 1493 onwards. The fleur-de-lys is one of her symbols, as are the colours silver and blue. The fleur-de-lys may also refer to the arms of the Randeck family, which also had a number of possessions in the area.

The bordure is a typical symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde, each of the four municipalitie sis represented by a silver and red part.
