In 2016 a newspaper article mentioned a local discussion whether the horse should have a tongue or not. No conclusion was drawn, but in any case, the description only mentions a horse, which means all designs showing a red jumping horse are correct, regardless the details of the horse.

WERNBORN

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Hochtaunuskreis (until 1975 Usingen)
Incorporated into : 1971 Usingen

Wappen von Wernborn/Arms (crest) of Wernborn
Official blazon
German In Gold auf grünem Boden ein springendes rotes Pferd.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The horse appeared for the first time on the seal of the village from 1816. The initial seal showed the horse facing (heraldic) left, all later seals and images show the horse facing (heraldic) right. It is not clear why a horse was taken as arms for the town, older seals are not known.

The arms were never granted though.

Wappen von Wernborn/Coat of arms (crest) of Wernborn

The arms on a building in the town

In 2016 a newspaper article mentioned a local discussion whether the horse should have a tongue or not. No conclusion was drawn, but in any case, the description only mentions a horse, which means all designs showing a red jumping horse are correct, regardless the details of the horse.
