BOCKUM-HÖVEL
State:Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis):until 1974 Lüdinghausen
Additions:1939 Bockum, Hövel
Incorporated into: 1974 Hamm
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1955.
The division in red and silver bars is derived from the arms of the Lords of Hövel, see below. The upper silver bar shows two beechnuts as a symbol of Bockum (from Buchenheim, Buche is beech). The lower bar shows two tools, symbolising the importance of mining for the municipality. The arms are now used of the Bezirk Bockum-Hövel of the city of Hamm.
