Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 2, 1968.

The letter N and the small cross are taken from the large Neustadt Abbey, founded in 770. The village developed around the Abbey, which was abolished only in 1803. From 993-1803 the abbey and the village were part of the State of Würzburg, to which the silver and red colours refer.

The sword is the symbol of the local patron saint, St. Michael, which was seen on the early 18th century seal of the village.
