Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 10, 1972.
The arms are a combination of elements from the old arms of Heek (bishop) and Nienborg (tower).
The old arms of Heek were granted on March 4, 1937 and are shown below.
The arms show the local patron saint, St. Ludgerus (Liudger), with his attribute, a goose, at his feet. The diamonds are taken from the arms of the Lords of Heek, who lived at the local castle in medieval times and who became extinct in the 16th century. Instead of the original black and white colours, the whole arms were designed in the colours of the State of Münster.
