Origin/meaning
The arms were designed and granted in 1938.
The arms are based on the oldest seals of the village. The oldest seal dates from the early 14th century and shows already a tower, wall and gate. Above the wall the image of St. Mary, the local patron saint was seen. After 1557 she was replaced by a shield with the lion of Nassau, as the city was again acquired by the Counts of Nassau. In the present arms the lion was placed directly above the wall, and the wall was shown with three towers as a canting element (Dreidorf means three-villages).
