Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

Laasphe received city rights in 1277. The oldest seal of the city dates from 1352 and already shows the same composition as the above arms. The gate with the towers symbolises the fortified city. The small shield shows the arms of the Lords of Wittgenstein, who owned the city at the time.

In 1908 the arms were officially granted, but the shield was changed to a quartered shield for a later branch of the family, see image below. The above arms were granted on March 10, 1937. Hupp showed the arms of 1908:

Siegel von Bad Laasphe

The municipal stamp shown in 1892
Wappen von Bad Laasphe/Coat of arms (crest) of Bad Laasphe

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
