The arms were officially granted on August 15, 2010.

The wavy bends refer to the Etzbach anc Nister rivers in the village. They join the Sieg, which is shown as a wavy pale.

The lion is taken from the arms of the County Sayn-Hachenburg to which the village historically belonged. The owl refers to the nature and the many owls that can be found in the area.
