German	Geteilt und unten gespalten, oben wachsend in Silber der hl. Petrus im roten Gewand mit goldenem Schlüssel in der Rechten und goldenem Buch in der Linken; unten von Silber und Blau gespalten, vorn am Spalt ein halbes schwarzes Kreuz, hinten ein halber silberner goldbewehrter Adler.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 5, 1957.

The arms are based on the seal of the Amt Balve from 1550. The upper part shows St. Peter, patron saint of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged. The lower half shows the cross of the State of Köln and the eagle of the Counts of Arnsberg. The area was part of the County Arnsberg until 1368.
