English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 29, 1996.
The griffin (Greif) is a canting element for the Greiffenstein castle (now a ruin) in the municipality. The village historically was owned by the owners of the castle. The mountain refers to the position of the castle on a hill, as well as the local hills and forests.
On the hill the wheel of the State of Mainz is placed, as the region historically belonged to Mainz.
