Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1905, changed and again granted on May 19, 2008.
The previous arms wshow three canting herrings (Hering=herring).
The new arms show a crown, as the three villages Ahlbeck, Bansin and Heringsdorf were very popular during the Imperial times, and the Emperor and his family visited the region often. The base indicates that the villages are sea side resorts.
