BAAR
State:Bayern
District (Kreis):Aichach-Friedberg (until 1973 Neuburg an der Donau)
Incorporated into: 1978-1994 Thierhaupten
German |
Durch einen silbernen Schrägwellenbalken geteilt von Schwarz und Blau. Oben ein rot gekrönter und rotbezungter goldener Löwenkopf, unten drei goldene Sterne. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 17, 1995.
The three stars refer to the three former municipalities Unterbaar, Oberbaar and Heimpersdorf, as the municipality was formed of Ober- and Unterbaar, then merged for 16 years with Thierhaupten. In 1994 the municipality became independent again and the former municipality of Heimpersdorf was also removed from Thierhaupten to Baar.
The stars are also taken from the arms of the Freiherren Riederer von Paar, who acquired the local estate in 1567. Their arms showed 5 stars.
The lion's head is taken from the arms of the Wittelsbach family, who originated from the area.
The wavy bend refers to the Kleine Paar river.
