HÖRSTEIN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Aschaffenburg (until 1972 Alzenau)
Incorporated into : 1975 Alzenau
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The oldest use of arms by the town dates from 1587 on a stone decoration. The arms showed only a horseshoe. In the early 18th century the town used a seal with the present combination of horseshoe and oak tree. The present arms were officially granted in 1937 and were based on this seal.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
