WELDEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Augsburg
Additions : 1978 Reutern

Wappen von Welden (Schwaben)/Arms (crest) of Welden (Schwaben)
Official blazon
German In Gold auf grünem Hügel zwischen zwei grünen Tannen eine silberne Turmruine.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted by King Max II on August 22, 1850.

The town of Welden did not use any arms prior to 1850. The local seal simply showed the name of the town. In 1850 the local council devised the above arms, which show an old Roman tower in the forest. The tower was built by the Romans just outside Welden and was the only fortified building in the village until the 17th century when it was destroyed. In 1755 Count Josef Fugger von Wellenburg had the last remains removed and had the St. Thekla church built at the same spot.
