Official blazon
German Im Deichselschnitt geteilt; oben in Blau ein silberner Hirschkopf, unten vorn in Grün ein silbernes Hufeisen, unten hinten in Silber ein grünes Lindenblatt.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 15, 1994.

The deer in the upper half is taken from the arms of the Hirsch (=deer) family, who acquired the estate of Kospoda in 1894. The local council initially wanted to use a symbol of the arms from the Von Kospoth family, who had owned the estate for centuries, but finally the deer was chosen. The Hirsch family contributed much to the development of the village in the early 20th century.

The horseshoe stands for the village of Meilitz, where some prehistoric horseshoes have been found, indicating a longtime inhabitation of the area. The linden leaf symbolises the large linden tree in the village of Burgwitz, a typical landmark in the village.
