ROHRBACH
State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Saarpfalz Kreis (until 1974 Sankt Ingbert)
Incorporated into :1974 Sankt Ingbert
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 25, 1962 and were newly devised.
There are no historical arms or seals known for the town. The upper part represents both the diocese of Speyer and the Pfalz. The cross is taken from the arms of the diocese of Speyer and the colours are taken from the arms of the Pfalz. The village belonged to the Pfalz and later to Bavaria, whereas the church belonged to Speyer. The cross also symbolises the fact that the town is on a major crossroads.
The lower part shows in the colours of Bavaria, the canting symbols Rohr (reed) and Bach (brook) and the wheel as a symbol of the metal industry in the town.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
