WALDAU

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Hildburghausen
Incorporated into : 1996 Nahetal-Waldau

Wappen von Waldau (Thüringen)/Arms (crest) of Waldau (Thüringen)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 2, 1992.

The pine tree is a canting symbol, the name can be translated as village-near-the-forest (Wald=forest). Until 1583 the village was a possession of the Counts of Henneberg, which is symbolised by the second quarter (Henne=chicken, Berg=mountain). The base shows the initial of the village.
