Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 24, 1962.
The arms show in the upper part three tiles, taken from the arms of the Lords of Nassau-Saarbrücken, who ruled the area for a long time. The lower half shows inthe colours of Nassau (gold and blue) symbols for agriculture an mining.
