State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Kusel
Incorporated into : 1969 Kreimbach-Kaulbach
German |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 14, 1953.
The wolf with the rock are taken from the older arms, see below. The lower half is canting for the name Kaulbach. Bach is brook or stream and Kaul refers to the boulders falling from the local cliffs into the river and are rounded to form balls by the current. Kaul is the local word for Kugel (ball).
The previous arms were used until 1953.
These arms are derived from the oldest known 18th century seal of the village. The wolf and rock probably refer to the old Amt Wolfstein (wolf-stone), to which the area historically belonged (and now to the Verbandsgemeinde Wolfstein).
Literature: Debus, 1988
