GLEISWEILER

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Südliche Weinstrasse
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Edenkoben

Wappen von Gleisweiler/Arms (crest) of Gleisweiler
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 14, 1844.

The arms are based on the local seals of the village, which are known from 1546-1729. The horseshoe most likely is the older village symbol; the grapes indicate the importance of viticulture for the area.

Literature: Debus, 1988
