LUTTEN

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Vechta
Incorporated into : 1933-1945 and since 1972 Goldenstedt

Wappen von Lutten/Arms (crest) of Lutten
Official blazon
German In Gold eine geflügelte Pferdebremse.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 13, 1948.

The arms show a tool used to stop horses, with additional wings. It already appeared on the medieval seals of the Lords of Lutten (now extinct), and was thus chosen as a symbol for the municipality. The colours were no known, so the colours of the State of Münster and the Grand-Duchy of Oldenburg were chosen, to which the area historically belonged. The Lords of Lutten were vassals of the Bishop of Munster and after the secularization in 1803 the village became part of Oldenburg.
