Wappen von Janneby/Arms (crest) of Janneby
Official blazon

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 7, 2001.

The arms mainly show the nature of the municipality. The division line symbolises the division of the municipality in a sandy part in the North-West and a more marshy area in the South-Eastern part of the municipality. The oak leaf stand for the forests in the area, the two acorns for the two villages Janneby and Jannebyfeld. The marsh marygoldflower (Caltha palustris) is a typical plant for the marshlands and moors. The chief shows a checquered bar, which symbolises the historical toll gate, built in 1569, on the main road from Flensburg to Husum.
