English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 12, 1956, but have been in use since 1896.

The arms are based on a shield shown on a memorial cross in the village. The shield showed a gate with a branch of vines and a vine-knife, symbolising the importance of viticulture in the region. The meaning of the gate is not known. The council adopted the new arms in 1896, but the image was not properly described, so the colours and the shape of the tower differed during the years. Only in 1956 the arms were properly described.

In the 19th century the village used a seal with a bunch of grapes.

Siegel von Jestetten

The municipal stamp shown in 1892

In 1895 the State Archives of Baden proposed the use of the arms of the Lords of Hestetten, granted in 1557 and showing in red a silver horses' head. The council, however, adopted the above composition.
