DACHWIG
State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Gotha
German | In Blau, mit einem silbern und rot gestückten Bord, unter einem goldenen Sparren ein goldenes Waidrad. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 27, 1996.
The chevron represents a canting roof (Dach). The wheel and the blue and gold refer to the cultivation of woad (Isatis tinctoria) and the manufacture of a blue dye from pressing the plant (the gold refers to the yellow flowers of the plant).
The bordure refers to the many thatched houses in the village and well as to the former village wall, of which still some parts remain.
