Origin/meaning
The arms were proposed in 1903 by the State Archives as no historical arms or seals were known. The municipality adopted the arms later that year.
The cloudy bordure is taken from the arms of the Princes of Fürstenberg, the divided shield from the arms of the Counts of Lupfen and the star from the arms of the Lords von Hewen.
The oldest known lords of the village were the Lords von Hewen, the Counts of Lupfen were their successors and in 1488 the village became a possession of the Counts (later Princes) of Fürstenberg.
