Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 29, 1989.

Rechtenbach became a major centre for glassblowing in the 17th century when French glassblowers took over the local glassworks. This is symbolised by the blowpipe and the French fleur-de-lys. When the glassworks closed in 1791 the main activities in the village was to make railway sleepers from the local oak forest. This is symbolised by the as and oak leaf.

The oak leaf also refers to the nature in the Spessart area. The colours are those of the State of Mainz, to which the area belonged until 1803.
