HOFHEIM IM RIED

State: Hessen
District (Kreis): Bergstrasse
Incorporated into: 1971 Lampertheim

Wappen von Hofheim im Ried/Arms (crest) of Hofheim im Ried
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show either an axe or a plough, and are probably an old village symbol. The symbol first appears on the village seal of 1691. As a supporter the patron saint of the village St. Stephen is used. The same image (arms and supporter) is also shown on the village hall, dating from 1711.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
