The oldest seal of the town, dating from the early 15<sup>th</sup> century, shows a canting composition of two pine trees (Tannen) on a mountain (Berg), with in between the quartered arms of Pfalz-Bayern. The above arms are shown for the first time on a seal dating from the late 16<sup>th</sup> century, where the trees are replaced by undescribed leaf trees, and the shield is simplified to the arms of Bayern only.
