State:Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis):Calw
Incorporated into: 1975 Altensteig
German | In Silber drei (2:1) golden bewehrte, rot bezungte schwarze Adler. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1930.
Berneck received city rights in the late 14th century. The oldest known seal dates from the 15th century and already shows the three eagles, derived from the arms of the Lords of Gültlingen, lords of Berneck from the middle of the 14th century. To distinguish the arms of the city from the arms of the family the large eagle was shown in the chief of the shield. This composition remained unchanged until 1930, when the large eagle was placed below the other two eagles. The colours are also identical to the arms of the Lords of Gültlingen.
