The arms are based on the oldest known seals of the local court, dating from the 16th and 17<sup>th</sup> century. The goose-foot is a rather common village sign and probably was used as the locals have been breeding goose for several centuries. The first known coloured image dates from the late 19<sup>th</sup> century and showed the same colours as the present arms.
