In Silber ein grüner Wellenbalken, begleitet oben von vier, unten von drei grünen Kugeln.

The green wavy bar symbolises the Ruhr river, which runs through the area. The seven balls refer to the seven municipalities in the Amt.  
The arms were officially granted on January 26, 1962.
