Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 2, 1993.
The arms are based on a seal from 1300 and are in use since 1904. The arms indicate the city surrounded by lakes and in possession of the Princes of Brandenburg (eagle). The meaning of the stars is not known, they probably are used simply to fill the field of the seal, which was common at the time.
