Origin/meaning
The arms probably date from late medieval times and combine the Imperial eagle, with the deer taken from the arms of the medieval Von Hischberg family (Hirsch=deer). The village historically belonged to a large Imperial Estate, hence the use of the eagle. The combination of eagle and deer appeared on the 17th century seal of the city, but is probably of older origin. Although the colours have changed regularly during the centuries, the composition as such remained the same.
