Origin/meaning
The arms already appear on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from the late 16th century. The right half shows two fish in a river, making it a canting element (Fischbach=fish-stream). The left half shows the chevrons of the Lords of Eppstein, who ruled the village until 1581. In 1581 the village became part of the State of Mainz and the second seal thus shows the wheel of Mainz instead of the chevrons.
