Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 16, 1876.

Ludwigslust was founded as a residence of the Grand-Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in the late 18th century. In 1876 the village recieved city rights and the above shown arms. The bull's head is taken from the arms of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The rose and the claw are taken from the arms of the Lords of Kleinow, to which the area belonged until 1616. The small cross refers to the Bethlehem Convent, founded in the town in 1851.
