Official blazon

  • (de) In Silber über blauem Wasser ein roter Zinnenturm mit offener schwarzer Tor- und Fensteröffnung, aus dem Turm wachsend ein nach links blickender golden bewehrter schwarzer Adler.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 17, 1995.

The arms show the tower of the local castle, the Prussian eagle and the Elbe river. The arms are based on the seal of the village used until 1945, which showed a divided shield, in the upper half the eagle and in the lower a tower and waves. The tower symbolises the medieval tower, which is now completely destroyed. The eagle refers to the fact that the village is named after Prince Heinrich, son of King Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia, who bought the area in the 18th century. <

After 1945 the Prussian eagle was replaced by a fish in the seal. In the 1980s the village adopted arms with only the tower rising from the Elbe. In 1995 the eagle was added again.
