In Rot schräg gekreuzt ein silberner Bergmannshammer und ein silbernes Schürfgerät mit goldenen Stielen. Origin/meaningThe arms first appear on the seal of the town dating from around 1600. The symbols are the obvious symbols for the copper and iron mining near the city. The exact origin of the right tool is not clear, but it has been mentioned as a mining tool. The colours are known since around 1800. Hupp showed in the 1920s the arms with different tools, see below.
