Official blazon

In Schwarz ein rot bewehrter, rot bezungter und rot gekrönter goldener Löwe, auf zwei schräggekreuzten, rotbefiederten silbernen Pfeilen stehend.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 1896.

Schriesheim received city rights around 1240 from Konrad von Strahlenberg, but these were removed in 1470. The city rights were again granted in 1967. In 1347 the city became a possession of the Pfalz. The oldest seal dates from the same time and shows the lion of the Pfalz on two crossed arrows. The arrows are derived from the arms of the Von Strahlenberg family. All later seals all show the same composition.
