Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 24, 1937.

The arms were designed in 1936 and are canting, a horn and a castle (Burg). As colours the colours of Westfalen were chosen. The same colours were also used by the medieval and early 15th century extinct family Von der Horneburg.
