Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 15, 1990.

The arms are based on the old arms of Jerichow II, with the exception that the arms of Bismarck are replaced by the Elbe-Havel Channel in the second quarter and the arms of the Lords of Plotho on the third. The anchor in the second quarter symbolises the importance of the Channel for the local economy. The Lords of Plotho were one of the main noble families in the area.
