Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 15, 1992.
The arms are typical for the late medieval time and appear on seals from the 16th century. The seal shows a walled city and a small shield with the arms of the Von Eilenburg family, lords of the town in the 14th century (see also Eilenburg).
