Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 1, 1965.
The arms are derived from the seal from 1751 of the former Amt Wiedelah, a district in the former State of Hildesheim. The arms show the lily-shaped staff of the local governor in the colours of the State of Hildesheim.
