Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1986.

The arms are a combination of the arms of two families that ruled the village in historical times. The right half with the black and silver points is derived from the arms of the Lords von Wambold. The left half with the three diamond is derived from the arms of the Lords von Wallbrunn. The small escutcheon shows two axen, the symbol of St. Matthew, the local patron saint. The escutcheon is also a coantin element, the axen are called Barten in German. The arms are already known from a single 17th century seal of the village,

In 1956 simplified arms were proposed, but the village council decided on the use of the arms from the seal.
