Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 27, 1980.
Thüngen is known from the 8th century and became a possession of the Lords von Thüngen in 1333. In 1677 they donated part of the village to the Julius hospital in Würzburg. Until 1848 the family and the hospital ruled the village together.
The chief shows the arsd of the Lords of Thüngen, the division line refers to the local castle. The base shows symbols for agriculture and industry.
