In Blau ein silberner Balken; oben ein wachsender, rot bewehrter goldener Löwe, unten ein waagrechter silberner Fisch.

Origin/meaning

Eslarn belonged since 1329 to the Pfalz and received town (Markt) rights in 1598. At the same time the arms were granted by Prince Friedrich IV of the Pfalz and the arms immediately appear on the seals of the new town.

The lion in the upper part is the lion of the Pfalz, the colours blue and white are taken from the arms of the Wittelsbach dynasty, Princes of the Pfalz and Kings of Bayern. The fish is canting, an Essling. The arms thus have never changed since, except that the upper part is often shown as black, as the arms of the Pfalz show the lion in a black field, as shown below:
