Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 29, 1996.
The lion is taken from an old seal and refers to the former County and Amt Lohra, which used a lion in its seal and arms. The lion was used by the Lords of the Lohra castle and the crown indicates their rank of count.
The crosier refers to the former Benedictan convent Münchenlohra. The linden leaves refer to the four villages in the municipality: Friedrichslohra, Großwenden, Kleinwenden and Münchenlohra. The linden is a common tree in the villages.
