The arms were officially granted on ??
The eagle is typical for many (personal) arms in Friesland and stands for the fact that the area belongs to Ost-Friesland. The green field with the seven trefoils symbolises agriculture as well as the seven municipalities in the Samtgemeinde.
The wavy bar symbolises the many rivers and streams in the area.
