Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 19, 2016.
The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the former municipalities. The wheel is taken from the arms of Kiesby and also refers to the main activities in the municipality, trade, production, agriculture and tourism. The five spokes also refer to the five villages in the municipality.
The wavy bars refer to the name Boren, meaning source. The fish is a maraene (Coregonus maraena) a former important, but now very rare fish in the area. The fish also refers to the coastal area (Schlei) of the municipality. The fish and the waves were already used in the previous arms of Boren (see below).
The garb refers to the importance of agriculture, the five stalks refer again to the five villages. The oak leaf is taken from the old arms of Ekenis. The three acorns refer to the three municipalities that merged in 2013.
The previous arms were officially granted on January 31, 2008.
The fish and waves have already been described above. The wind mill blades refer to the mill in Lindau, built in 1837. The oak branch refers to the village Güderott.
